  1. (Sorry for my earlier blank response!)

I’d be happy to volunteer my copy editing services. I’ve been a member of the copy editing team for the peer-reviewed online journal Feral Feminisms since late 2015; I was also on the copy editing team of the Media Innovation & Entrepreneurship project (a Rebus open textbook).

  2. Hi Leanne, thanks so much for your interest and willingness to participate! We’d love to have you on board as the copyeditor. Mark is currently putting some final revisions to the first few chapters, and we hope to share the content with you sometime next week (or early the week after). How does this sound? You can expect the content to come in on a rolling basis in July, as Mark goes through his revisions and changes.

  3. Hi Apurva, That sounds great! I’ll be on a mini vacation from Sunday the 24th through Wednesday the 27th. I’ll still be reachable, but I might be slightly slower to respond during that period. It doesn’t sound like this will be a problem, however. (If it is, let me know, and I’ll do my best to be available.)

I’m planning to edit the chapters for clarity, grammar, formatting (i.e. fonts, spacing) and referencing, without making any significant alterations to the work’s original content or meaning. Is that what you’re looking for? I’m happy to do more or less—just let me know.

If there is a style guide or set of submission guidelines for this project, could you send me a copy so I can use them as a reference?

I look forward to working with you and Mark on this project.

  4. Hi Leanne,

That shouldn’t be a problem at all, and should work out perfectly in terms of timing. We’ll reach out sometime in the first week of July in that case. I hope you enjoy your vacation!

The type of editing you’ve described is just what we were hoping for! We’ll share information about the style guide along with the content in July, so you can refer to these.

Mark was actually a contributor to the Media Innovation and Entrepreneurship textbook, so I should say we’re both looking forward to working with you again! :)

  5. That all sounds great!

And apologies for my gaff. I only worked closely with Liz Mays and another copy editor, Mary Brunskill, on the Media Innovation and Entrepreneurship project, and I didn’t realize that both you and Mark were also involved. How embarrassing! But now at least I’ll get a chance to work with both of you directly. :)

  6. Leanne,

I am so happy to hear from you and now feel energized to pick up the pace on my edits.

This is going to be a lot of fun as I whip this book into shape now that every chapter has been peer reviewed and you are on board!

  7. Hi Leanne – no worries. There were a number of collaborators on the Media Innovation and Entrepreneurship project! We’re happy to be working with you directly on this book. :)

Mark and I are currently coordinating to share content with you, so you can expect to hear from us early next week.

  8. Excellent! I’m back from my vacation and ready to go. :)

  9. Wonderful! I’ve just sent along some details via email, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
